About
Functor is built by a quant researcher and engineer. Development updates are posted publicly.
Founder
The founder is a British quant researcher and engineer. Their education includes a Master's in Computer Science and Software Engineering from Oxford, an MBA from London Business School, and a Master's in Financial Engineering. Their research covers category theory, stochastic analysis, graph algorithms, embedded domain-specific languages, and multivariate Hawkes processes for modelling cryptocurrency order books.
The founder has worked as a quant researcher and quant developer at London cryptocurrency and FX hedge funds and at proprietary trading firms.
Research
The founder is conducting research at the University of Oxford's Department of Computer Science on a compositional, algebraic, category-theoretic library for pricing derivatives. Complex contracts are built from simple ones, and a contract's structure carries through to its price and settlement.
In category theory, a functor is a map between structures that preserves their composition. Functor carries a contract's structure from its definition to its price and settlement.
A foundation will issue FCTR and hold the treasury, and a development company will build the chain. Both will be set up with legal counsel before any token sale.
Functor has no VC investors. Early users earn points toward the airdrop, and testnet access goes to the community first.
A share of Functor's protocol fees is planned to fund scholarships in mathematics, computer science, physics and engineering at leading universities. Read more
